EVG-3D CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM

In a world that has become accustomed to change, one remarkable building system, which is having a truly revolutionary impact on overall building methods, is the EVG-3D building system.
EVG – Entwicklungs-und Verwertungs- Gesellschaft m.b.H., an Austrian company recognized worldwide for the manufacture of complete mesh welding plants and specialized equipment, invented the EVG-3D panels in the early 1980s. The advancement in the development of EVG-3D panels is the use of expanded polystyrene (EPS) sheets in module size. The meshes are drilled diagonally through the EPS core and welded to the mesh layers. EVG-3D panels are extremely rigid and ready to be installed in the field. EVG holds intellectual property patents worldwide as well as international certifications in more than 14 regions of the world.

  • EPS – Expanded Polystyrene

The expanded polystyrene core is a non-flammable material with a low density of approximately 15 kg / m3. Standard EPS core thicknesses are 50 and 100mm. The EPS core serves as a formwork for the application of the concrete layers and also provides an excellent thermal insulation property to the system according to EN 10218.

  • Galvanized cover

The galvanized welded wire cover mesh has a standard size of 50 x 50mm diameter x 3.0mm. The cover mesh complies with standards EN 10244 and EN 10080.

  • Galvanized steel diagonals

Galvanized steel diagonals (firm) have a diameter of 3.8 mm thick. Panels are available with two truss spacings for different applications. The trusses are spaced 100 or 200 threads per square meter. The diagonals in galvanized steel comply with standards EN 10244 and EN 10080.

  • Shotcrete

Concrete layers are applied on both sides of the EVG-3D panel using a shotcrete pump. The role of concrete is to transfer compressive forces and to protect any additional reinforcement against corrosion. Concrete thicknesses vary from 40 mm to 80 mm.

EVG-3D panels
The panels have a standard width of 1200mm and a minimum length of 2000mm and a maximum of 6000mm, in 100mm increments. The weight of the panel is approximately 7 kg / m2 and can be easily cut on site to a specific size and shape.

EVG-3D Floor Slab Panels
The EVG-3D slab system is primarily designed as a one-way slab. EVG-3D Panel Cover Mesh can serve as bottom or top reinforcement of floor slabs. With additional rebars, the EVG-3D slabs cover a distance of about 6 meters.

Both internal and external – on buildings of single- and multi-storey types.
Residential, commercial, public service buildings.

Using panels as an alternative to the conventional roofing system to create one of the most energy efficient and durable roofing systems available with current technology.

Use of the panels as perimeter wall structures of varying sizes and architectural complexity, namely fences, shielding screens for visual applications.

Panel structures for multi-storey buildings with a span of 3.5 to 5.5 meters.

Any type of infill wall system for warehouses, industrial and commercial structures requiring increased strength and integrity for an exterior wall …

Formes complexes telles que courbures, dômes, spirales ou autres formes fluides difficilement réalisables avec les méthodes de construction conventionnelles.

The EVG-3D  can be built on any foundation, subject to starter bars cast into the foundation according to structural engineering requirements. The panels are usually placed so that the rebar is set between the mesh and the polystyrene. This ensures easy and precise wall alignment. A damp proof layer is applied under the wall panel.

Erection of the EVG-3D panels always starts at corners, in order to achieve the required construction rigidity. Individual panels are connected together using a splice mesh on both sides, using either a manual or a pneumatic fastening tool.

Panel walls are reinforced by means of splice mesh. This is normally required at corners, between panels and around openings. This will create continuous mesh reinforcement. Reinforcing ties and bars are used at building element junctions to add strength to joints. Meshes are tied together using pneumatic tools.

ENERGETIC EFFICIENCY

OF THE EVG-3D CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM

THERMAL INSULATION

Improved thermal insulation is essential for reducing energy consumption and improving the quality and environmental comfort within a building. The thermal brake of each EVG-3D panel is mainly made of expanded polystyrene, which allows temperature fluctuations to be moderate. U-values of EVG-3D walls depend on the thickness of the EPS core and the configuration of the diagonal wires. A 100mm EPS covered with 50mm of concrete gives an extremely efficient U-value of 0.7 W / m2K. The following table shows the thermal values for the EVG-3D components.

FIRE RESISTANCE AND SAFETY

The fire resistance of standard EVG-3D panel construction depends on the S grade fire retardant EPS core, the thickness of the concrete layers and the quality of the aggregates used. Dimensions can be increased by adding interior and exterior treatments, coatings and finishes.

SOUND ISOLATION

The sound insulation of a building is its property
to protect the internal building environment from exterior noise and to attenuate interior noise as it travels from room to room. Thanks to its double-shell construction, the EVG-3D panel configuration minimizes sound and noise transmission.
Tests carried out in professional laboratories in accordance with international standards have resulted in:
• Airborne sound insulation index Rw: 42dB (without facing layer)
• Airborne sound insulation index Rw: 58dB (single-sided layer – exterior wall)
• Airborne sound insulation index Rw: 61dB (layer facing both sides – partition)

The EVG-3D panel construction system offers:

• Continuous insulation
• Reduced cost and cost of LCA systems
• 50% savings in heating and cooling costs
• 10% increase in internal space.

The building regulations for Malta emphasize the need for a comprehensive environmental design solution for any building. This is enforceable under legal notice LN 261/08. The minimum energy performance requirements of the various building elements are specified in document F – Technical guidelines – Conservation of fuel, energy and natural resources, and must be observed. In addition, an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is now also required for each new building under the new legislation.
According to technical guidelines F, the maximum U-values are 1.57 and 0.59 W / m2K respectively for exposed walls and roofs. The following diagram clearly shows that with an EVG-3D construction system it is possible to achieve low U values of 0.7 and 0.4 W / m2K in the construction of the walls and the roof. This translates into higher energy efficiency, superior to legal requirements, especially compared to other traditional systems.
